Mar-Bal President & CEO, Elected Chairman of the Board of The Ohio Manufacturers’ Association
Columbus, OH (June 13, 2017) — Scott Balogh, President and CEO of Mar-Bal, Inc., is to lead the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association (OMA) for a two-year team. Balogh succeeds William Sopko, President of William Sopko & Sons Co., Inc., Cleveland, OH.
The OMA board is composed of 30 senior level executives and owners of small, medium, and large manufacturing firms across Ohio from a wide variety of manufacturing industries. OMA directors and leaders are all volunteers.
The sole focus of the OMA is to ensure manufacturing competiveness in Ohio. The OMA is concerned in understanding government’s role in the cost of manufacturing. Rules and regulations govern activity – from transportation to the delivery of a finished product – and impact a company’s cost.
The OMA is fully funded by its member companies. Dues and other fees support public policy services, workers’ compensation and information services.
The public policy staff focus solely on activities involving legislation and regulations that can impact business. The staff are “feet on the street” for member needs at the Ohio Statehouse.
The workers’ compensation staff helps organize case management and workers’ comp cost-containment strategies. The OMA is the only organization that recognizes the importance of worker’s comp i
n the manufacturing industry.
The information services staff keeps organizations current on policies and issues that affect cost. The online publications and learning events are tailored to multiple jobs including: HR, safety, environment, energy and tax.
Balogh being appointed into this position, will strengthen Mar-Bal’s voice in the organization and help the company understand new ways to operate.
