Colleague Focus – Don Church

This edition of Colleague Focus features Don Church who began his career with Mar-Bal 10 years ago as a member of our Advanced Manufacturing Group (AMG) and currently serves as the Maintenance Manager of our materials division, AltraSet , operating out of our Painesville, Ohio facility.

Speaking on what makes Mar-Bal such a rewarding place to work, Don lists his colleagues and the company’s willingness to make capital investments in the name of quality and innovation as his favorite parts about working at Mar-Bal.

Continuing on about his career with Mar-Bal, Don talks about the assistance he received to advance his career stating, “I’ve gotten to move into a position as Maintenance Manager at Altraset that was out of my comfort zone, and felt supported to learn what I need to get the job done”.

Don’s proudest moment at Mar-Bal was actually a significant event for the company as a whole, moving to the new manufacturing plant in Painesville, Ohio. Reflecting on this time he said “Being a part of moving all the presses from Munn Road to Painesville as part of AMG. The day the last press moved was my proudest moment here”. Moving these presses from Munn Road to Painesville was no small task and took a lot of planning and unity from everyone involved.

Like many of us after work, Don enjoys sitting down to a good home cooked meal, his favorite being Meatloaf with mashed potatoes, gravy and corn, but adds that he enjoys a slice or two of pizza as well. Afterward when watching some television, he’s most likely tuning in to the newest episode of his favorite show, The Curse of Oak Island on The History Channel.

Family is undoubtedly important to Don, listing his wife as someone he looks up to “I look up to my wife (my best friend) because she’s always been there for me and my kids and done a great job raising our family”, and their Sunday tradition of family dinners with their kids and grandkids.

In his free time Don enjoys the outdoors, camping at Pymatuning Lake Campgrounds with his family, metal detecting, four-wheeling and fishing.

We want to thank Don for his decade of hard work and applaud his advancement within the company!
