Mar-Bal’s engineered composite materials have excellent performance characteristics which makes them well suited for a wide variety of applications. All standard grades can be injection, compression and transfer molded. In addition to the materials listed here, Mar-Bal’s material engineering team can customize a material to fit your application and meet your exact specifications.

Mar-Bal Materials Designations

The first four digits of the designation represent the series.

The two digits after the series designate the glass percentage.

1000 Series
A general purpose material that is easily customized. Designed for Powder Coating and Electrostatic painting.

2000 Series

An excellent flame and track resistant material with excellent electrical and mechanical properties. Good dielectric strength and low shrink for close dimensional control.

3000 Series

A superior chemical resistant material with excellent flame and track resistance.

4000 Series
The high track resistant material. A flame retardant polyester molding compound with moderate strength and excellent electrical properties and exceptional arc and track resistance. Suitable for replacing porcelain in insulator and other electrical applications where higher track resistance is critical.

5000 Series
A uperior heat resistant material. U.L. RTI rating of 160°C-170°C
